The Plain English Campaign has a wonderful site about writing in clear, everyday English. It targets primarily companies and government organisations, but the web-site is useful for anybody who writes in English.

They give good and bad examples of written communication, free guides, glossaries of financial, legal and pension terms, and much more. They also have a free 'How to Write in Plain English'.
